To commemorate Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day and to pay tribute to America’s military, Flair Cleaners, Southern California’s leading eco-friendly dry cleaning business, announced its second annual Flair Care Packages drive, beginning May 14, in conjunction with the USO Greater Los Angeles Area. In addition, Flair Cleaners announced that it will clean or launder up to five shirts, blouses or pants for active duty military and veterans at no charge May 25 - 27, 2012, Memorial Day weekend. These programs are in addition to Flair’s year-round military discount and complimentary flag cleaning. “Our family has a long-standing commitment of supporting our military that started with free flag cleaning and substantial discounts for servicemen and women more than 50 years ago and continues to this day,” said owner Gary Futterman. “It is our privilege to support our servicemen and women, and our veterans, whether ensuring they look and feel their best, collecting much needed supplies for the USO, or ensuring that throughout Southern California clean flags fly in their honor.” Flair Care Packages Drive Based on the extraordinary success of the 2011 drive, Flair Cleaners opted to make the Flair Care Packages collection an annual event to help the USO’s effort to send much-needed supplies to soldiers stationed both here and abroad. Residents and businesses throughout Southern California are being enlisted to bring in supplies for active duty military personnel that will offer a “touch-of-home,” regardless of where they are deployed. Donations can be brought to the Flair Cleaners location in Valencia – May 14 through Memorial Day weekend. Everyone who donates will receive a certificate for 50% off dry cleaning as a thank you for their support. Needed items include water and individually packaged snacks, personal hygiene supplies, music, and CDs. A complete list can be found on the Flair Cleaners Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/flairdrycleaners, and website, www.FlairCleaners.com. “The USO Greater Los Angeles Area, which serves more than 60,000 military personnel and their families annually, is delighted to once again partner with the patriots at Flair Cleaners in this drive for our troops,” said Barbara Musella, center manager of the USO - Greater Los Angeles Area. “The leadership of businesses like Flair Cleaners in rallying our communities’ generosity is vital in helping provide the USO’s famous touch of home.” About Flair Cleaners Since 1958, Flair Cleaners, a family-owned business, has delivered on its promise to provide exceptional quality and personal service that brings new "life" into its clients’ wardrobes and home accessories. Some of the best defining moments for an actor are rooted in improvisation, which requires quick thinking and being in the moment. On Saturday, October 2, Comedians of the Canyons, the College of the Canyons improv group, will create an unscripted show based on audience suggestions. Every show is completely different and unpredictable, said Allan Trautman, a professional actor starring in off-Broadway's latest improv show, who is the courses instructor and the shows host and director. Our shows last year were packed with a very enthusiastic crowd, and we expect this first performance of the semester to be a unique treat. Composed of students enrolled in the colleges advanced improvisational performance theatre class, the improv group will perform at 8 p.m. in Pico Canyon Hall, Room 202 on the Valencia campus. These improvisational performances are terrific opportunities for our students to test the performance skills learned from Allan in the improvisational classroom, said Paul Wickline, chair of the colleges theatre department. Audiences have grown significantly as the word has gotten out about how much fun these shows are. The show is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
